From Laboratory Research
to Industrial Reality.
We are laser engineers dedicated to measurable precision. By eliminating the necessity for complex active stabilization, we transition Multidimensional Coherent Spectroscopy (MDCS) from highly specialized laboratory environments directly into scalable manufacturing and metrology.
Our Vision
Unlocking the Power of Real-Time MDCS.
Multidimensional Coherent Spectroscopy (MDCS) is a profoundly powerful analytical tool for understanding ultrafast material dynamics. Historically, its extreme complexity and fragility confined it to highly specialized optical laboratories.
At Hofer Photonics, we are changing this paradigm. By engineering a fundamentally robust, single-cavity architecture, we have brought MDCS out of the lab and into the real world. We provide the critical measurement infrastructure required to scale next-generation technologies—from optimizing advanced photovoltaics for a sustainable future to maximizing yields in semiconductor and quantum hardware manufacturing.
We are driven by the conviction that pushing the boundaries of measurement directly enables technological and societal progress. Our mission is to equip innovators with the robust tools needed to turn groundbreaking potential into reality.
The Team
Tobias Hofer
CEO & Founder
Tobias brings a deep foundation of academic excellence and technical innovation to Hofer Photonics. After his M.Sc. in Photonics from Stuttgart University, Tobias dedicated five years to Ph.D. studies in Professor Oleg Pronin's renowned research group in Hamburg, Germany from 2020-2025. Tobias pushed the boundaries of ultrafast laser technology, successfully developing the world's most powerful source for dual-comb spectroscopy. His research culminated in achieving record-breaking, high-resolution spectroscopy from infrared to the deep UV range in free-running laser system - laying the critical technological groundwork for our multicombs® systems.
Dr. Gregor Hehl
CTO
Gregor has spent over 20 years bridging the gap between complex experimental physics and innovative engineering. Dr. Hehl earned his Ph.D. at the University of Stuttgart, where his research focused on coherent Raman microspectroscopy. Following his academic career, he transitioned to industry to drive the advancement of thin-disk laser technologies at Dausinger + Giesen GmbH, where he led critical developments in electronics and electro-optics. To fully leverage his interdisciplinary expertise, Gregor founded MW Elektrooptik in 2019, specializing in tailored solutions for demanding spectroscopy and custom laser electronics.
